Brooke is awesome. Ben is awesome. Their family & friends, yup, awesome. I love getting to work with such fun people in stunningly beautiful areas of the world – such was the case with B&B’s wedding earlier this month in Kelowna at Bo.ttega. I’ve shot at a number of purpose-built wedding/event venues and they all hold their own, but Bo.ttega has set a new standard in my eyes. It made the perfect backdrop for their wedding, a hidden gem in the wooded hills overlooking the city of Kelowna. Even getting out to the Okanagan was a blast – took two days, camped in both Revelstoke and Penticton, had the paddle board out, went swimming, fishing, and all kinds of exploring. The wedding day was the only ‘off’ weather day that week, but as if by some miraculous intervention the clouds parted at the exact moment we needed them to just prior to the ceremony, and from then on the surreal light peeking through the clouds dappled the ceremony, and by the time we headed off to do the shoot we were under full skies. A quick stop at Tantalus, then on to a couple other spots I had scouted the day before. Getting back to the venue, there was a full pig on the roast, delicious appetizers, and champagne bottles by the dozen. Chef Martin of The Chef In Stead provided the food to keep everybody smiling (photographer included). The party lasted long (long long long) into the night – and definitely capped off a fantastic wedding day for Brooke & Ben!
