The first shoot with my beautiful wife Jasmin…

Last night I got the pleasure of getting to do a shoot with my gorgeous new wife Jasmin. We were married earlier this month out in Osoyoos, and I’d been looking forward to doing a shoot with her as my subject from the earliest days of planning our wedding. We’d been taking out a SUP (stand up paddle board) almost every day this week, so it was natural to incorporate it into a shoot. The lake was perfectly calm, and Jasmin didn’t hesitate for a minute when it came to jumping on the board. It was the first place we went to shoot, so if she went in, the rest of the shoot would’ve been different! On the way down from the lake, I noticed how the dappled light was streaming through the trees in my rearview mirror as the dust from the dirt road was kicked into the air. On our way back we took advantage of this beautiful light for a few quick shots that have an almost angelic look. From there, we headed off to do some fly fishing shots, and then out to a farmers field as the last streaks of light peered over the western mountain ranges. I know I’m biased, but when I was looking through the lens at Jasmin I knew I was looking into the eyes of pure beauty. For those of you who don’t know her, her incredible heart matches what you see on the outside. I fell head over heels for her, and even looking at these pictures now makes my heart race. One of the greatest challenges, and one I look forward to with great anticipation, is to show the true personality of the subject in my images. When you’re shooting pictures for the woman you just married 6 days prior, the desire to achieve this goal was that much higher. I hope that this love comes through in the shots. It was such a fun time, I couldn’t wait to post them! This is the first of a lifetime of photography projects we’ll get to work on together, and I look forward to sharing them here.
