Last month I had the pleasure to make the four hour trip Northwest to Jasper for a wedding shoot. I arrived early on Friday to do my scouting, and while checking out the reception venue got to meet the groom for the first time. Up to that point, all of my communications with Monique had been by email as they were living in on the other side of the world in Dubai. I instantly knew that I would get along with them, and got even more excited about their mountain wedding the next day. For those of you who haven’t been to Jasper, imagine the perfect little town surrounded by impressive rocky mountains in every direction. I often shoot in Banff, so making the trip to Jasper was somewhat familiar, yet somehow very new. After doing my scouting, I headed out on my bike for a ride on the Overland trail and got to see the reception site from the opposite side of the river. Their wedding day was hot and sunny, so needless to say I was looking forward to touring around with them. To top it off, they had planned a beautiful picnic style reception complete with baskets, old school games for the kids, guitars, and a massive bonfire. They have some amazing family and friends, and the fun went well into the night. Just before I left, we all watched a huge full moon peek from behind the mountains. All in all, it was a fantastic day & weekend trip.
